“The future depends on what you do today.” — Mahatma Gandhi
Life has a way of moving in cycles — seconds turn into minutes, minutes into hours, days into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years. We can use these cycles of time to determine the scope of our reflections and goals — short-term for hours or days, medium-term for weeks or months, and long-term for years.
The annual cycle is synced to our birthday, and the calendar year is often the most common long-term scope. It aligns with performance reviews, salary cycles, New Year’s resolutions, and more.
One critical aspect of reflection is extracting insights and knowledge to inform future actions and decisions — especially when setting goals. In this way, reflection enables us to learn from the best teacher there is — Life itself.
The good news is that we all have access to life as the ultimate teacher. However, it is up to each of us to make the most of this opportunity. To truly learn, we must approach each moment with curiosity, embracing every experience fully. We should remain open to the cognitive, social, and emotional aspects as they reveal insights about ourselves, others, and our place in the world.
By embracing life’s teachings, we get to continuously improve — strengthening skills, confidence, courage, and vision just like a child learns and grows through new experiences.
In today’s increasingly uncertain world, personal vision, confidence, and courage are more necessary than ever.
To set ourselves up for success:
We need to believe in ourselves
Maintain a sense of meaning and direction
Find strength within
Shore up supportive relationships
LifeSynchrony Assessments — Plan to Succeed
I have been working on a set of tools called “LifeSynchrony” to encourage purposefulness, intentionality, and accountability across the various roles we play in life.
At the core of LifeSynchrony is a collection of personal reflection assessments available free on my website.
Each assessment contains questions carefully designed to help you:
Reflect on goals
Understand strengths
Identify areas for improvement
Get tips for actions to take
The assessments are customized across the different roles we play, as each role has its own context and requirements.
Every role has two assessments:
A Standard Holistic Wellness Assessment: Holistic Wellness looks at universal needs like purpose, relationships, health, and more and is the same one for all roles, meaning it’s common.
Role Success Assessments Unique to Each Role: The Role Success dives deeper into the unique requirements for succeeding in each specific life role from your personal perspective and context.
Personalized Reports & Conversations
Each assessment comes with a free downloadable PDF report containing your results and personalized recommendations.
You also have the option of a conversation to discuss your reports, insights, and any “aha moments” triggered by the assessments.
Simply find a time that works for you on the website calendar so we can have a Virtual Conversation through the website calendar to find a time that works for you. It’s free.
Try Out LifeSynchrony Assessments
I encourage you to try the LifeSynchrony assessments and share this article with others who may benefit.
As we plan to learn from the life experiences coming our way in 2024 and beyond, I hope the act of structured and intentional reflection helps strengthen our self-awareness, self-belief, and the relationships we need to thrive.
Let the life lessons flow, and the learning continue! I look forward to your thoughts and feedback.
